Introduction
A city bathed in golden light, Metz is a hidden jewel of northeastern France, where Gothic architecture and modern art seamlessly coexist. The Cathedral of Saint-Étienne, with its towering stained-glass windows, dominates the skyline, while the Centre Pompidou-Metz offers a contemporary contrast with world-class exhibitions. Meandering through the Quartier Impérial, past Belle Époque facades and peaceful canals, feels like stepping through time. Metz’s vibrant café culture and renowned cuisine, from mirabelle tarts to quiche Lorraine, make it a feast for the senses. Whether you're exploring the Temple Neuf, strolling along the Moselle River, or admiring its many gardens, Metz is a city that enchants at every turn.
Day 1 Itinerary

Morning: Exploring the Cathédrale Saint-Étienne and Place d’Armes
Start your morning at Place d’Armes, the elegant square at the heart of Metz, surrounded by golden Jaumont stone buildings. Visit the Cathédrale Saint-Étienne, one of the most breathtaking Gothic cathedrals in France, famous for its enormous stained-glass windows designed by artists like Marc Chagall. Wander around the nearby Place de la Comédie, home to the Opéra-Théâtre de Metz, the oldest opera house in France still in use.

Hidden Gem: Peek inside Église Saint-Maximin, a small church featuring stunning contemporary stained-glass windows by Jean Cocteau.

Lunch:
Enjoy a relaxed lunch at Le Pampre d'Or, a traditional French restaurant serving classic Lorraine dishes like quiche lorraine and potée lorraine (a hearty meat and vegetable stew).

Afternoon: Strolling Along the Moselle River
Take a leisurely walk along the Moselle River, admiring the picturesque bridges and gardens. Visit the Temple Neuf, a neo-Romanesque Protestant church located on a small island in the river. Then, explore the charming medieval streets of the Colline Sainte-Croix, Metz’s oldest district, with its hidden courtyards and Renaissance-era buildings.

Dinner:
Dine at Les Amis de Saint Louis, a stylish brasserie known for its fresh, seasonal French cuisine. The outdoor terrace is perfect for a summer evening.

Drinks:
End your evening at Vivian’s Pub, a cozy bar offering a great selection of craft beers and a warm ambiance.
